Laser Periodontal Therapy

A revolutionary alternative treatment for gum disease.

"It was pain free. Did not have any problems. I went to work the same day of treatment and no problems".

- John J.

Having the LANAP procedure done was not as scary as I thought. Prior to having the first half of my mouth done, I called the dentist office about 3 times asking several questions, if I was going to feel any pain. I was very nervous. After the procedure was done I felt fine and had no pain. Dr. Gross and his wonderful staff were great to me. I would recommend this procedure to anyone who has gum disease.

- Debbie T.

What is Laser Gum Treatment?

Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP) treatment is an advanced technique for your doctor to treat periodontal (gum) disease and save many teeth that were previously considered hopeless. A laser light is used to gently remove harmful bacteria and diseased tissue from the gum pocket. This allows the body to heal naturally so that the gum pockets improve and the teeth become more stable. The laser is a wonderful tool that will help many patients bring themselves to a more healthy state.

Notice the puffy red irritated tissue above the teeth on the left side of this picture? This side of this patients mouth has not been treated with our periodontal laser yet. Notice the healthy tight pink gum tissue above the teeth on the left side of this picture? This side was treated with our laser just ONE WEEK prior! This is an actual patient treated by Dr. Gross. He had absolutely no post-operative pain. If you have gum disease, read on and see what we can do for you!

Dramatic Patient Benefits

  • Dramatically less traumatic yet highly effective alternative to cut and sew gum surgery.
  • No cutting of the gum tissue with a scalpel and no stitches means easy recovery with minimal bleeding.
  • Preserves gum tissue instead of cutting it away.
  • Reduces root exposure and sensitivity.
  • Reduces infection.
  • Reasonable expense.

Who Is A Candidate For LANAP Therapy?

First, it is helpful to know who is not a candidate for LANAP. Patients who have healthy gums do not need this treatment. Also, people with superficial gingivitis do not need this form of therapy. Superficial gingivitis patients have red swollen gums but have gum pockets less than 5mm. These patients are classified as Class I. All other periodontal patients are Class II, Class III, or Class IV. All these people have gum pockets 5mm or greater, and the higher classes of gum disease correspond to the deeper gum pockets, and more loss of bone support to the teeth. All classes of gum disease greater than Class I are candidates for LANAP Treatment.

LANAP is FDA approved
